ABOUT WESTMINSTER VILLAGE ~ SPECIFICS & AMENITIES
Jane's Walk
Jane's Walk is a global movement of free locally-led walking tours inspired by Jane Jacobs. Jane Jacobs (1916 - 2006) was an urbanest and activist whose writings championed a fresh community based approach to city building. The walks get people to explore their cities and connect with neighbours. Over 100 cities participate annually in Jane's Walks ( Canada, USA, England, France, Germany, India, Netherlands, China, Russia to name a few) May 4, 2014 saw the first Jane's Walk in the Westminster area led by Martin Dixon pointing out some of the history of the area and it's buildings.
Westminster Village Fair
July 19, 2014 saw the first annual Village Fair. Despite it being VERY windy, it was a good day and according to comments received, those who attended seemed to enjoy themselves. There were many activities and games for kids of all ages including tie dying, a visit by a member of the Lethbridge canine unit and his dog. The 'balloon man' was a hit as well. Very appreciated was the hard work done by group of young people and their leaders from South Carolina sponsored by Amazing Kids Lethbridge and involvement by the 151h Lethbridge Scouts/Guides. Thank you to The Boys and Girls Club and the City of Lethbridge for their help.
